Story

I heard Kevin Kling, and extraordinary story teller from Minneapolis, interviewed on the radio show "On Being".  He had some very profound things to say about living with a disability from birth vs. learning to live with a disability following his motorcycle accident.  I wrote down some of what he said.  I also found some profound statements I had written down when visiting some artist galleries in Park City that really hit me as interesting statements about what it is we really 'see' when we look at things.  So, as I was driving across Nevada coming home from a meeting in San Francisco, I wrote this song.  Ken and I call it the 'high school musical" song because of the bridge....!   I'm hoping to send it to Kevin when it is fully mixed and balanced and ready to go onto the CD.

Lyrics

MYSTERY

When I open my eyes do I believe what I see - Or  see only what I believe

If I open my mind and not be so blind  -  will  I believe the things that I see

Am I movin' to the person that I want to be

Or running from the person I've been

Am I learning the lessons life has given me

If not, then it's time to begin

When we experience loss - life's currents get tossed

There are questions - no answers around

When we start to believe in the things we can't see

in that mystery - life's path may be found

Am I movin' to the person that I want to be

Or running from the person I've been

Am I learning the lessons life has given me

If not, then it's time to begin

When direction is lost I could dwell on the cost

or use my senses to find a new way

If I'm going to survive and be fully alive

Embrace the mystery and find a new day

I could search from afar- make a wish on a star

Or dig deep inside - use my spirit as my guide......

Then I'lll move to be the person that I  want to be

Move away from the person I've been

I will learn the lessons life has given  me

Guess it's never to late to begin....

No it's never too late to begin
